Interior Technical Manager

Objective:

Our client, a multidisciplinary interior design powerhouse, fuelled by a blend of creativity and pragmatism., is looking for an Interior Technical Manager to be joining their team in Al Khobar- KSA. The ideal candidate will ensure timely and accurate design work on sites by coordinating, monitoring, and managing design / supervision consultants through the discipline design team.

Responsibilities:

• Establish design work delivery and monitoring program for design team.
• Monitor work of Discipline Design Engineers and Design Consultants to ensure design correctness and completeness as well as scope compliance.
• Maintain record of Design Consultant(s) submittals and control in a timely manner the submittals/correspondence received.
• Evaluate and endorse the variation orders/concession requests submitted by the Design Consultant(s) for client's approval.
• Review and comment on all drawings and documents submitted by Design team and Consultant(s) and ensure the incorporation of all revisions on all documents.
• Coordinate with design team for technical support required to ensure the correctness and completeness of design aspects.
• Review and report to management all monthly reports submitted by Design team and Consultant including areas of concern and recommended plans of actions.
• Facilitate meetings with Design team and Consultant(s).
• Propose alternative materials/systems to improve the design operation and construction cost through value engineering workshops.
• Review consultant / contractor work progress.
• Set up, lead, and manage design technical team.
• Manage and control team to ensure appropriate monitoring of the work of Design Consultants and of Contractors in construction stage.
• Carry out goal setting and appraisals for team members.
• Conduct skills development and awareness workshops for the team as needed.
• Ensure timely and accurate documentation, filing of design documents and reporting to appropriate stakeholders.
• Coordinate closely with Project Manager and Site engineers to get all site design work reviewed and approved.
• Manage client relationship throughout all stages of the project.
• Maintain client liaison throughout the project to ensure client satisfaction with design work progress.
• Advise design manager on design issues and remedial actions in case of deviations.
• Establish professional relationships with peer professionals in the industry.
• Meet clients to obtain feedback on design work on site and make appropriate improvements to the same.
• Maintain awareness of industry trends, methodologies, tools, templates, and best practices in project management in relation to design engineering.
• Adapt and adopt good practices for continuous improvement.
• Lead and manage the technical interior design team members, guide them on all technical details and matters, taking full responsibility for their development and delegating work accordingly.
• Establish excellent relationships with company teams, project managers, other disciplines, and sub-consultants.
• Excellent internal project management skills in completing detailed interior Design projects with high quality and within the time frame.
• Create technical solutions in cooperation with the Head of Design.
• Assist Project Designers in bringing the concept design through schematic design, by reviewing and incorporating Architectural, Structural and Services information into the design.
• Research and propose technical solutions to design problems as and when they arise.
• Advise Project Designers in design clarification, detailing and material selection.
• Attend and record meetings within the company and with the wider design team.
• Prepare and monitor documentation production programs to keep the project on track. You are responsible for maintaining office drafting and documentation standards at all stages of the project.
• Oversee the drafting team to deliver the detailed design and documentation of the project, in line with the vision of the Project Lead.
• Work with internal CAD team and guide them to deliver comprehensive documentation packages.
• Manage and conduct shop drawing reviews.

• Experience in luxury residential or hospitality projects preferred.
• Excellent skills in AutoCAD, Revit, SketchUp, Adobe Creative Suite (highly preferrable but not compulsory).
• Fluent in English.
• Strong technical design skills.
• Ability to meet tight project deadlines.
• Proven ability to handle multiple projects simultaneously.
• Collaborative and enjoy working in team environments.
• Good communication skills.
